Displaying Member Email Addresses on TractorPoint

Members currently have the option of displaying their email address on their profile page.

With email robot programs someone can scan for an email address and start spamimg you if you display your email.

I am working on an improvement that will keep your address off the page. Your profile will have a link that will take a message sender to a page to type a message, they will not see your email address.

TractorPoint will send the message to you, all senders will include the email address that is registered on the site.

This feature would be operative only for those of you who have set their email preference to "display my email".

If anyone really wants to display their email address instead of the new way please let me know.

Dennis

I have implemented the changes to the site so that:

1) No one will have their email address displayed with their profile any longer

2) If your profile has display email checked. When someone goes to your profile they will see a "Send Private Message" link.

3) The send Private message will send a message to the address you have registered with the TractorPoint site. The sender will not see your email address.

4) Recipients of private messages wiil receive the senders email address with the email.

5) Only registered users can send a private message.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any problems.

With the new approach more of you may want to change your profile settings to allow private messages.

Displaying Member Email Addresses on TractorPoint

Dennis,

I turned on the email in my profile, and then when back to view my profile and clicked send a private message. I got the email form and did a test message to myself. After I clicked send I noticed the sent page said the the message was sent to you...? Let me know.

Thanks,
Brian
